  • Sri Kailas Andhale was nominated on Agriculture Advisory Committee of Sahyadri Vahini of Doordarshan Kendra, Mumbai.
  • Sri Sunil Kamdi a farmer from Jawhar taluka, a participant of MITTRA’s development programme, was awarded as ‘Best Farmer’ for the year 2013-14 by BAIF at a function held at Uruli Kanchan on the Foundation Day, the 24th August 2014.
  • Sri Tukaram Varpe, CDC Center in-charge of Chikhali in Sangamner talua was awared as ‘Best CDC in-charge Award by BAIF at a function held at Uruli Kanchan on the on the Foundation Day, the 24th August 2014.
  • Sri Laxman Sonya Ghatal of Village Bhatipada (Ahina) Taluka Jawhar, District: Palghar was awarded as Best Wadi Owning Farmer by NABARD at a function organized on 32th Foundation Day of the organization. The Award was presented by Dr. Harwardhandan Patil, Minister of Cooperation Government of Maharashtra on dated 18th July 2014.
  • Sri Baburao Kondu Lahare, a farmer in Vikramgad, was awarded Krishi Sanman Puraskar 2014 in the category Dry land Agriculture by the Media Roots Pune, Zee 24 Taas Channel, Dr. Bavaskar Technology, Netafem Drip for earning Rs. 2,27,000/- through cultivation and grafting of jasmine, marigold and Sonchafa on 0.33 ha. in 2013 -14.
  • Sri Sunil Mahadu Kamdi, a farmer in Jawhar was awarded Krishi Sanman Puraskar 2014 in the category Research by the Media Roots Pune, Zee 24 Taas Channel, Dr. Bavaskar Technology, Netafem Drip for undertaking varietal development of paddy and development of a variety ‘Ashwini’ through selection method.
  • Jay Durga SHG at Nandurbar was awarded as Best SHG on the Foundation Day, the 24th August 2014.

National Recognition for Floriculture as a Good Practice in Rural Development Sector

The initiative, ‘Small Scale Low External Input Floriculture (Fulsheti)’ promoted by MITTRA was adjudged as one of the Good Practice for Development of Rural Sector in 2015 at a function organized in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Sri Kailas Andhale, Associate Thematic Programme Executive, Nasik presented the initiatives in tribal areas of Maharashtra in the workshop. An Exhibition on the initiative, explaining the process and impact on the livelihoods of the tribal families was also set up at the exhibition which evoked keen interest from farmers, professionals in development sector and dignitaries attending the function.

A Memento and a Certificate recognizing the initiative was presented by Sri Birender Singh Minister of Rural Development Government of India in the function attended by Sri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, CM Madhya Pradesh and various dignitaries.





Vijayatai Deshmukh Best SHG Award

Santoshi Mata Self Help Group in tribal village Babhulwandi in taluka Akole of Ahmednagar district was awarded Vijayatai Deshmukh Best SHG Award on Foundation day celebrated at Central Research Station, Uruli Kanchan on 27th Aug. 2015 at the hands of Dr. Abhay Bang, renowned social worker in the presence of Sri Girish Sohoni, president, BAIF; Sri Prataprao Pawar, Sri Sunil Lalbhai, Dr. Narayan Hegde and other dignitaries. The Award carries cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-, a memento and a certificate of excellence.

Santoshi Mata Self Help Group was established and nurtured in the Tribal Development Programme implemented by BAIF and sponsored by General Mills, Mumbai. The group, apart from undertaking regular saving and credit activities is active in promoting livelihoods enhancement activities of the project such as vegetable cultivation, floriculture, improved paddy cultivation practices, creating water resources for irrigation and drinking water for reducing dependence on season migration in the post Kharif season.

The group has facilitated participating of community in activities initiated for improving village sanitation, personal hygiene, organization of health camps and specialized camps for diagnosis and treatment of reproductive disorders of women and camps for treatment of sick cattle and vaccination etc with project support. Outcome of these activities has brought about remarkable change in the village.

Solar lights are illuminating homes in this remote tribal village, thanks to the initiative of the Self Help Group.



Best Farmer Award

Smt. Rahibai Soma Popere, a tribal woman farmer from Kombhalne village of Akole taluka in Ahmednagar district was awarded Best Farmer Award on Foundation day celebrated at Central Research Station, Uruli Kanchan on dated 27th Aug 2015 at the hands of Dr. Abhay Bang.

The Award carries cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-, a memento and a certificate of excellence.

Rahibai has conserved and multiplied about 43 landraces of 17 different crops such as paddy, dolichos bean, millets, pulses and oil seeds through in situ germplasm conservation.

EXCELLENCE AWARD TO AI TECHNICIANS

An Excellence Award Function for felicitating meritorious Artificial Insemination Technicians (AIT) of the year 2014-15 and working in was organized at Sri Vinayak dada Patil, Trustee, MITTRA presided over the function attended by about 100 AI Technicians.

AI Technicians working in Godhan and Ksheerdhara project, adjudged Excellent on the basis of AI output with quality were felicitated with a bouquet, certificate of merit and cash award in a function organized at Kusumagraj Pratishthan, Gangapur road, Nasik on 16/3/2016. Sri Vinayak dada Patil, Trustee, MITTRA presided over the function attended by about 100 AI Technicians.

MITTRA received an award of Water Management Forum (WMF) of Institute of Engineers (India) for Best Contribution towards Conservation of Water in Institutional Category.

MITTRA had applied for the above award for work on DBI system carried out with the support of TATA Trust (JRTT and SRTT) in the field of Water Management in development of 76 ‘Diversion Based Irrigation systems (DBI)’ for tribal families in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra. It has benefited 900 tribal families and brought 1,590 acres under irrigation. The design of DBI system is such that water is impounded up to 1.0 meter height in natural streams and transported along the contours. These DBI systems are managed by the beneficiary groups.

Jai Gurudeo Mahila Swayam Sahayata Gat

Jai Gurudeo Mahila Swayam Sahayata Gat in the village Padali of Dhadgaon taluka of Nandurbar was formed on 15.9.2006 under JanUtthan Programme. There are 11 members in the Self Help Group, which is headed by Srimati Megabai? Gulab Walvi. Srimati Rama Dhansingh Walvi is the secretary of the SHG.
The SHG is involved in following activities in the village:
1. Community health :
  • Medical checkup of expectant mothers is organized in the village with the support from health department. Awareness is created in the lactating mothers about preparation and consumption of nutritious diet, Children under five years of age are weighed and their growth status is identified for proper advice on nutritious diet.
  • Pulse Polio campaign is provided all the assistance for ensuring total coverage. Parents are made aware of importance of vaccination and mobilized for participation.
  • Village cleanliness drive is organized on regular basis by sweeping the streets and collecting garbage littered at public places in the village. The community is made aware of importance of maintaining cleanliness through action.
  • Specially prepared nutritious diet is provided to children in Anganwadis since 2006 under the government sponsored scheme.
2. Marketing of Cluster Apple (seetaphal) :
cluster apple grows on a large scale in the Satpuda range of mountains. The fruit is famous all over Maharashtra for quality. The SHG is involved in collection, gradation and packaging and sale of the fruit. The fruit are sold by the SHG through special stalls at Shahada, Nandurbar and adjoining Gujarat state for about a month. The groups earns between Rs. 10-15 thousand during the season every year. 
 
After clearing first grading by the State Bank of India, Dhadgaon branch, the SHG was sanctioned a loan of Rs. 25,000/- for undertaking rearing of goats as an income generation activity. The group is successfully rearing the goats and have retired the loan. The groups has applied for second gradation for accessing higher amount of loan.
 
The group has motivated women to form ten more women’s SHGs in the village and are involved in nurturing these groups. The groups follows implementation of various government schemes including employment guarantee scheme being implemented in the village and takes part in the gramsabhas for effective implementation.
 
The social mobilization and development initiative of Jai Gurudeo Mahila Swayam Sahayata Gat been recognized by BAIF Development Research Foundation, Pune and is awarded Smt. Vijayatai Deshmukh puraskar for the Best SHG in Maharashtra for the year 2014-15. The prize was awarded at the hands of Sri.Deepak C. Mehta on BAIF Day Function at Uruli Kanchan on 24th August 2014.
